50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the loosed ones successively 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 And those that revive by quickening, 3 By those who winnow with a winnowing, 4 and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets) 5 to serve as an excuse or a warning. 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 So when the lights of the stars are put out. 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 The mountains will be blown away as dust. 10 and when the Messengers' time is set 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]! 13 Would that you knew about the Day of Judgment! 14 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 Then caused the latter folk to follow after? 17 That is what We shall do to those who are guilty of crime. 18 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 19 Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? 20 Then We placed it in a place of safety (womb), 21 until an appointed time? 22 So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers! 23 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 the living and the dead? 26 and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 Neither shading nor availing against the flame. 31 and throwing up sparks as huge as towers 32 So like golden camels." 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 nor shall they be permitted to offer excuses. 36 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 So if you have any plot to devise against Me, then devise it. 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
