The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
