Tell them: "O people of the Book, let us come to an agreement on that which is common between us, that we worship no one but God, and make none His compeer, and that none of us take any others for lord apart from God." If they turn away you tell them: "Bear witness that we submit to Him." 64 O FOLLOWERS of earlier revelation! Why do you argue about Abraham, seeing that the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed till [long] after him? Will you not, then, use your reason? 65 Behold! you are they who disputed about that of which you had knowledge; why then do you dispute about that of which you have no knowledge? And Allah knows while you do not know. 66 Ibrahim was not a Jew, nor a Nazarene, but he was an upright Muslim, nor was he of the associators. 67 Lo! those of mankind who have the best claim to Abraham are those who followed him, and this Prophet and those who believe (with him); and Allah is the Protecting Guardian of the believers. 68 Some of the followers of earlier revelation would love to lead you astray: yet none do they lead astray but themselves, and perceive it not. 69 O people of the Book! wherefore disbelieve ye in the revelations of Allah whereas ye bear witness? 70 O followers of earlier revelation! Why do you cloak the truth with falsehood and conceal the truth of which you are [so well] aware? 71
