The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is covered, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
