The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a fateful Day. 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On couches, gazing, 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 whose seal is musk so let all aspirants aspire after that 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
God the Almighty always says the truth.
