Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the dawn, 1 and ten nights (of pilgrimage or the last ten days of Ramadan), 2 and the even and the odd, 3 Consider the night as it runs its course! 4 Truly in that there is an oath for those who possess understanding. 5 Have you not seen what your Lord did to the 'Ad 6 the people of the huge columned city of Eram 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 And with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the vale, 9 and with Pharaoh of the stakes? 10 All of them committed excesses in their lands, 11 And increased therein the corruption. 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 Indeed nothing is hidden from the sight of your Lord. 14 And as for man, when his Lord tries him, then treats him with honor and makes him lead an easy life, he says: My Lord honors me. 15 However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me". 16 Nay! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity (i.e. you neither treat them well, nor give them their exact right of inheritance)! 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the needy. 18 and you devour the inheritance [of others] with devouring greed, 19 And love wealth with abounding love. 20 Most certainly when the earth is smashed and blown to bits. 21 And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank, 22 and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him? 23 He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!" 24 So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment, 25 And none will bind as He will bind. 26 [But to the righteous, God will say], "O soul at peace, 27 Return to your Lord well-pleased (with your blissful destination), well-pleasing (to your Lord). 28 Enter thou among My bondmen! 29 Enter thou My Paradise!' 30
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
