The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a grievous day, 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
