[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 What time Shu'aib said unto them: fear ye not? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 so fear God, and obey me. 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ "Maintain just measure in your business and do not cause loss to others. 181 And weigh (things) with a right balance, 182 And do not wrong men of their things, and do not act corruptly in the earth, making mischief. 183 “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.” 184 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 185 You are nothing but a man like us, and we think you are a liar. 186 Drop down on us lumps from heaven, if you are one of the truthful' 187 He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do." 188 And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
