The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
