Nay, by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 About the criminals, 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
