Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity. 25 Never so, for when life withdraws into the clavicula, 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 and calf is inter-twined with calf. 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30
