The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
