If they cry lies to thee, then do thou say: 'I have my work, and you have your work; you are quit of What I do, and I am quit of what you do.' 41 Some of them listen to you. But can you make the deaf hear you, even though they cannot understand? 42 Some of them look fixedly at you; but can you make the blind see, bereft as they are of sight? 43 Truly! Allah wrongs not mankind in aught; but mankind wrong themselves. 44 And on the Day when He shall gather them together, it will seem to them as if they had not tarried in the world longer than an hour of a day. They will recognize one another; lost indeed will be those who considered it a lie that they were destined to meet God, and did not follow the right path. 45 And whether We show you some of what We promise them, [O Muhammad], or We take you in death, to Us is their return; then, [either way], Allah is a witness concerning what they are doing 46 Every nation has a messenger. Once their messenger has come, judgement will be passed upon them in all fairness and they will not be wronged. 47 They say: "When will this promise come to pass,- if ye speak the truth?" 48 Say [O Prophet]: "It is not within my power to avert harm from, or bring benefit to, myself, except as God may please. For all people a term has been set: when the end of their term approaches, they can neither delay it by a single moment, nor hasten it." 49 Say: Have ye thought: When His doom cometh unto you as a raid by night, or in the (busy) day; what is there of it that the guilty ones desire to hasten? 50 "Would ye then believe in it at last, when it actually cometh to pass? (It will then be said): 'Ah! now? and ye wanted (aforetime) to hasten it on!' 51 Then it shall be said to those who were unjust: Taste abiding chastisement; you are not requited except for what you earned. 52 They ask you, "Is that (punishment) true?" Tell them, "It certainly is. I swear by my Lord. You can not escape from (God's retribution)". 53
