He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attended to him, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and purified. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
