And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
