The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ These are verses of the Qur'an,-a book that makes (things) clear; 1 A guide: and glad tidings for the believers,- 2 Those who keep the prayer established and pay the charity and are certain of the Hereafter. 3 We have made the deeds of those who do not believe in the life to come, attractive to them and they wander about blindly. 4 those are they whom an evil chastisement awaits, and they will be the greatest losers in the Hereafter. 5 Thou receivest the Koran from One All-wise, All-knowing. 6 (Remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his household: "Verily! I have seen a fire, I will bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand, that you may warm yourselves." 7 But when he came close to it, a call was sounded: "Blessed are all who are within [reach of] this fire, and all who are near it! And limitless in His glory is God, the Sustainer of all the worlds!" 8 [And God spoke thus:] "O Moses! Verily I alone am God, the Almighty, the Wise!" 9 Throw down your staff." When he saw it wriggling like a serpent he turned his back and fled without turning (to look). "O Moses," (said the voice), "be not fearful. Surely those sent as messengers do not fear in My presence, 10 "Except him who has done wrong and afterwards has changed evil for good, then surely, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 11 Now put your hand inside your cloak next to your bosom and it will come out [shining] white, without any blemish. This will be one of the nine signs for Pharaoh and his people: for truly they are a rebellious people." 12 When Our miracles were visibly shown to them, they said, "It is plain magic". 13 And they gainsaid them, out of spite and arrogance, although their souls were convinced thereof. So behold! what hath been the end of the corruptors. 14
