The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Lo!
