And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error." 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 "And none misled us but the guilty." 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 "Nor a caring friend." 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
