He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he feareth 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
