Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Deemest he that none will overpower him? 5 He says, “I destroyed vast wealth.” 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- 9 And did We not guide him to the two elevated things? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 of an orphaned relative 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 These are the fellows of the righthand. 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 On them is fire closed over. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
