Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Kaf Ha Ya Ain Sad 1 The mention of thy Lord's mercy unto His servant Zachariah; 2 when he called upon his Lord in secret, 3 And said: "O my Lord, my bones decay, my head is white and hoary, yet in calling You, O Lord, I have never been deprived. 4 I am afraid of what my kinsmen will do after (my death) and my wife is barren. Lord, grant me a son 5 who will be my heir and the heir of the family of Jacob. Lord, make him a person who will please you". 6 [He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name." 7 He said, "Lord, how can I have a son? My wife is barren and I have reached an extremely old age". 8 He said, "It will be so! Your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me for I created you when you were nothing before.'" 9 He said, "My Lord, grant me a sign!" He said, "Your sign will be that you will not speak to anyone for three successive days and nights, although sound in body." 10 So he came forth unto his people from the Sanctuary, then he made signal to them, 'Give you glory at dawn and evening.' 11 (It was said to his son): "O Yahya (John)! Hold fast the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)]." And We gave him wisdom while yet a child. 12 and tenderness from Us and purity, and he was cautious; 13 And dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant. 14 Peace be upon him the day he was born, and the day he will die, and the day he will be raised up alive. 15
