Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me). 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 He therefore inwardly sensed fear of them; they said, “Do not fear!”; and they gave him the glad tidings of a knowledgeable son. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said: "Even so says your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Wise, the All-Knower." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 to loose upon them stones of clay 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 So We brought the believers out of that they were in. 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 Then they turned in disdain from the commandment of their Lord, and the thunderbolt took them and they themselves beholding 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
