The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and flowing water 31 and abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And raised couches; 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
