The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And no trifle. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
Almighty Allah's Truth.
