(O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? 24 When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 But We found in it only one household of those who had surrendered themselves, 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman." 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 and it destroyed everything over which it passed and reduced it to dust. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
