Al-Hijjr 3 of 6
Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 and before him We created the jinn from smokeless fire. 27 And recall what time thy Lord said unto the angels: verily I am about to create a man from ringing clay of loam moulded. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 So, the angels - all of them - fell down in prostration, 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 [Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled. 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 for an appointed time." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
