And verily we sent Noah (as Our messenger) unto his folk, and he continued with them for a thousand years save fifty years; and the flood engulfed them, for they were wrong-doers. 14 Then We delivered him and those in the ark, and made it a sign unto the worlds. 15 And Abraham, when he said to his people, 'Serve God, and fear Him; that is better for you, did you know. 16 You worship idols besides God and fabricate falsehoods. Those whom you worship besides God have no power to provide sustenance for you. So seek your sustenance from God and worship Him and be grateful to Him, for to Him you shall return. 17 And if ye belie me, then communities before you have belied: and upon the apostle is naught but a preaching manifest. 18 (Have they not seen how God originates creation, then brings it back again? Surely that is an easy matter for God. 19 Say: 'Travel in the land and see how He started the Creation. Then Allah will originate the Everlasting Life. Allah has power over all things. 20 He punishes whom He will and has mercy to whom He will. To Him you shall be turned. 21 You cannot defeat His purpose on earth or in heaven; nor have you any friend or helper besides God." 22
