Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 We have made it an Arabic reading text so that perhaps you may understand. 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 Can We ignore sending you the Quran just because you are a transgressing people? 5 And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples, 6 And there came not to them a prophet but they mocked at him. 7 so We destroyed men stronger in valour than they, and the example of the ancients passed away. 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; 11 And Who hath treated the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you from ships and cattle things whereon ye ride. 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 Yet they make some of His servants partners in His divinity. Man is clearly ungrateful! 15
