Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And how many faces on that Day will be woe-begone 24 Fearing that a great disaster is going to befall them. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And leg will be joined with another leg (shrouded) 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
