The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
