And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
