So did you observe him who turned away? 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 and that it is for Him to grant the second life, 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
