The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
