The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 And created jinn from the flame of fire. 15 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord would you then deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
