Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
