The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 But save him who fears 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
