Indeed We sent Moses with Our Signs to Pharaoh and his nobles. He told them: “I am a Messenger of the Lord of the Universe.” 46 But when he came to them with Our Signs, behold they ridiculed them. 47 And not a sign We shewed them but it was greater than the like thereof; and We laid hold of them with the torment that haply they might turn. 48 And they said: O magician! call on your Lord for our sake, as He has made the covenant with you; we shall surely be the followers of the right way. 49 But when We removed from them the chastisement, lo! they broke the pledge. 50 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh) proclaimed among his people, saying: "O my people! Is not mine the dominion of Egypt, and these rivers flowing underneath me. See you not then? 51 Aye! I am better than this one who is despicable, and well-nigh cannot make himself plain. 52 Why have bracelets of gold not been given to him and why have some angels not accompanied him?" 53 Thus he made light (of the matter) to his people, and they obeyed him. They were certainly wicked. 54 But when they continued to challenge Us, We inflicted Our retribution on them, and drowned them all: 55 We made them a precedent, an example for later peoples. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
