Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Blessed be He in whose Hand is the Kingdom, He is powerful over all things, 1 Who created death and life in order to try you to see who of you are best of deed. He is all-mighty and forgiving, 2 Who hath created seven heavens in harmony. Thou (Muhammad) canst see no fault in the Beneficent One's creation; then look again: Canst thou see any rifts? 3 Then return [your] vision twice again. [Your] vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued. 4 And verily We have beautified the world's heaven with lamps, and We have made them missiles for the devils, and for them We have prepared the doom of flame. 5 For those who reject their Lord (and Cherisher) is the Penalty of Hell: and evil is (such), Destination. 6 When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth. 7 It almost bursts with rage. Every time a company is thrown into it, its keepers ask them, "Did there not come to you a warner?" 8 They will reply: "Yea, a warner did indeed come unto us, but we gave him the lie and said, 'Never has God sent down anything [by way of revelation]! You [self-styled warners] are but lost in a great delusion!"' 9 They also say, 'If we had only heard, or had understood, we would not have been of the inhabitants of the Blaze.' 10 And they will admit their sin, so [it is] alienation for the companions of the Blaze. 11 For those who fear their Lord in secret is forgiveness and a great reward. 12 Whether you conceal what you say or reveal it, God knows best all that the hearts contain. 13 How could it be that He who has created [all] should not know [all]? Yea, He alone is unfathomable [in His wisdom,] aware! 14
