Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say thou: it hath been revealed unto me that a company of the jinn listened, and said, verily we have listened to a Recitation wondrous. 1 Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord. 2 'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children). 3 And that the foolish amongst us used to forge extravagant things against Allah: 4 And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie. 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 Those people thought, like you, that God would never send down a Messenger. 7 'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 we used to take up a position to listen, but whoever listens now finds a flaming fire lying in wait for him -- 9 ‘And we do not know whether harm is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends goodness for them.’ 10 And of us there are some righteous, and of us are some otherwise; we have been following very diverse paths. 11 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. 15 Would they but go straight on the way, We would give them to drink of water copious, 16 So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement: 17 And the mosques are for Allah (Alone), so invoke not anyone along with Allah. 18 When the servant of God stood calling on Him, they were wellnigh upon him in swarms. 19
