Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 No, there is no refuge. 11 The only place of refuge will be with God. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 By no means! Verily ye love the Herein. 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 and upon that day faces shall be scowling, 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 and calf is inter-twined with calf. 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
