Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 Then separate them one from another, 4 and those (angels) dropping, reminding 5 excusing or warning, 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 So when the lights of the stars are put out. 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 and the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 To which Day has this task been deferred? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 What do you know what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 15 Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times? 16 We shall then send the latter after them. 17 Thus do We deal with men of sin. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 for an appointed term? 22 And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle. 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and given you fresh water to drink? 27 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 28 'Depart unto that which ye were wont to belie. 29 Depart to a triple-massing shadow 30 [But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame." 31 Verily! It (Hell) throws sparks (huge) as Al-Qasr [a fort or a Qasr (huge log of wood)], 32 as black camels. 33 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 34 This is the day on which they shall not speak, 35 nor will they be allowed to proffer excuses. 36 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 37 That will be the Day of Reckoning. Gathered will be (you) and the earlier (generations). 38 So if you have a plan, then plan against Me. 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
