The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
