The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
