And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 Upon your heart, for you to convey warning. 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to any one of the non-Arabs, 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this (Admonition) to penetrate the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod). 200 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; 201 It will come upon them unawares, and they will not comprehend it. 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able. 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 Surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend on every great accuser, extreme sinner. (The magicians) 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
