Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 Then he joined the lots, and was of the condemned. 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 Had he not been one of those who glorify Allah, 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ But We threw him on a wide bare tract of land while he was ill; 145 And We grew a tree of gourd (as a shelter) above him. 146 And [then] We sent him [once again] to [his people,] a hundred thousand [souls] or more: 147 and they believed, and We gave them enjoyment for awhile. 148 Now, ask them, has your Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 “Allah has begotten.” They are liars! 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 “What is the matter with you? What sort of a judgement you impose!” 154 Will ye not then reflect? 155 Or have ye a clear warrant? 156 Then bring your book, if ye say sooth. 157 And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]. 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 Except His chosen creatures who do not. 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 shall not be able to tempt anyone away from Allah 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 and, verily, we too are ranged [before Him in worship]; 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 They used to say before: 167 "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, 168 We would have been the chosen servants of Allah." 169 They have rejected the Quran. They will soon know the consequences (of their disbelief). 170 for, long ago has Our word gone forth unto Our servants, the message-bearers, 171 That they would be helped, 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from those [who deny the truth,] 174 And see them thou; they themselves shall presently see. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 And turn away from them for some time. 178 and see, soon they shall see! 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
