He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
