The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
