The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
