۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they differ? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
