Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
